Independent Sales Consultant from Home

Being an independent sales consultant from home seems like a dream come true until you hit the familiar wall that most independent sales consultants from home do.

A friend of mine has tried her hand at selling Avon, Scentsy, Thirty-One Gifts, Mary Kay, Mark, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Celebrating Home, Partylite and a few others, all without that much success. I asked her, what happened, was it the products, did people come to the parties she was having?

She said that everything seemed great but with each of the jobs, she kept running into a wall, where no one wanted to buy anything. I then asked her, what she meant by no one wanted to buy anything.

She said that she had told all of her friends and I stopped her right there. I explained to her clearly, what she needed to do to help herself as I’m going to for you.

By the way, she has since started hosting parties again and told me that last time that we spoke that even her teenaged children said that they were proud of her.

Hard Truth – You can not and will not make a living off of your friends. It’s ok to have a presentation 3 or 4 times a year that includes your close friends.

However, you just can’t expect them to shell out cash every 2 weeks in support of your dream. If you are serious about what you’re doing, you must find other ways to get yourself out there and by that I mean advertising.

Personal Business Cards – You may have business cards already; if you don’t you need to get some. Don’t bother printing the cards at home. They never come out right; additionally your business card represents you.

When you come across cheap flimsy looking personal business cards, what do you think? It’s probably crap that breaks easy or no one wants it.

Be Creative – Besides your basic contact information on the business cards, don’t be afraid to try something new. You can print on the front and back of business cards so this gives you a chance to say more to potential clients. Pictures on business cards or cards that are colored really attract people’s attention.

Cost – Business cards are surprisingly cheap considering the potential income that each one of them represents. You can order as many business cards as you need but I would recommend starting with at least 500. Depending on what printing store you choose, the personal business cards should cost no more than $30.

Tips: You already made the decision to start up your own business, you told your friends now it’s time to tell everyone else. Dreams do come true but they do not come to life without action. You have already taken the first step and that’s becoming an independent sales consultant. If you want to make money while working from home then more of the first ingredient is required, action.
